RDL® Lacquered Closures
The RDL® Lacquered Closure System from Tri-Sure® features phenolic and epoxy-phenolic lacquered plugs and flanges, specifically engineered for packaging applications that demand high chemical resistance and food-grade safety.
In Tri-sure drum closure internal lacquers play an important role in providing the user with a closure system of the desired chemical compatibility.
Phenolic and Epoxy phenolic Lacquers
Two main types of drum linings- sometimes referred to as 'lacquers'- are generally used: epoxy phenolic and pure phenolic. In pure phenolic linings the binder is a phenolic resin. In epoxy phenolic linings it is a blend of (usually) 70% epoxy and 30% Phenolic resins. This blend improves flexibility and results in an optimal balance of mechanical and chemical performance. many linings contain inert pigments. such as titanium dioxide or iron oxide. These pigments not only give a typical colour, but also improve application characteristics and allow higher layer thickness to be applied. barrier properties are also improve
Benefits
Compatibility
- The major physical and chemical performance characteristics are indicated in the performance table below. The information contained here is meant as a general guideline for packing and cannot be used and/ or considered as a compatibility guide with guaranteed performance of lacquers. The compatibility of each type of lacquer must be checked by the user, not only in laboratory tests but also with inserted closures under field conditions.
- These lacquers are made from material which comply with the requirement of the FDA regulations subpart F, paragraph 175.300 resinous and polymeric coatings.
