Lever Latch & Clips

Lever Latch & Clips

Balmer Lawrie Van Leer Ltd is having state of the art facilities for manufacture of Metal clips for drum locking rings

These clips are mechanical latching devices usually called lever lock clamps, latch clips, or locking clips

These clips  hold the closing ring tightly around the drum’s lid and body. They are common in open-head drums (both steel and plastic).

The clip acts as a hinged lever that tightens the ring by mechanical advantage, pulling the two ends together and locking in place.

Available Sizes:

Designed to fit specific drum diameters (commonly 200–220 L drums, but also smaller pails)

Benefits

Benefit

Why It Matters

Tool-Free Operation

No wrenches or torque tools needed — just a lever action.

Quick Opening & Closing

Saves time in filling and dispensing operations.

Uniform Sealing Pressure

Reduces leakage risk by evenly clamping the lid.

Reusable & Durable

Withstands repeated openings without deforming.

Corrosion Resistance

Coatings extend service life, even in harsh environments.

Safety Options

Secondary locks prevent accidental opening in transit.

Versatility

Fits steel, plastic, and fiber drums of various sizes.

Typical Applications

  • Chemical drums (solvents, resins, hazardous liquids)
  • Food-grade storage drums (oils, syrups — with stainless steel clips)
  • Industrial waste containers
  • Paints and coatings drums
  • Pharmaceutical bulk packaging

Working Principle

  1. The closing ring fits over the drum lid and chime (top rim).
  2. The metal clip lever is opened, allowing the ring to be loose.
  3. When the lever is pulled down, it draws the ends of the ring together.
  4. The cam action applies uniform compression around the lid, locking it in place.
  5. Safety catches or pins secure the lever to avoid accidental release.

 Types of Metal Clips

  • Standard Lever Clip – Simple hinged lever for general sealing.
  • Lever Clip with Safety Latch – Has a secondary locking pin or latch.
  • Quick-Release Lever – Designed for rapid opening/closing in frequent-use applications.
  • Heavy-Duty Cam Lever – For higher sealing force, sometimes used with hazardous goods.
